Hi! I’m Madeline.

When painting, I am like the seagulls flying into the acrylic sunset. I am free. Outside of my dining room studio, I pay attention— to strangers at restaurants, to a woman’s faraway look, to the extraordinariness of a baby’s eyes. Art is everywhere and all consuming, color and whimsy somehow conjured into being by the emptiness of the canvas itself. As I grow older, I hope to keep my amazement and wonder at the surface while deepening my technical skill.

When painting, I am like the seagulls flying into the acrylic sunset.
I am free.

My First Book:

Introducing

Author’s Note

The Peacock Tree is a great read-aloud for kids ages 0 to 5.

A stay in a magical English castle inspired me, and it has a lot of pictures because I had my little brother in mind. This book imagines an ancient conversation between an 800-year-old castle and a 400-year-old oak tree where all the castle peacocks go each night.

About the book

You see, The Peacock Tree is real and so is the Castle. Rumors of Robin Hood's bow-stashed up the Castle's chimney-still circulate in the neighboring villages of Helpston and Marholm. Here, each night, the peacocks flutter up to the high branches of the old proud oak tree. Here an ancient conversation about the simpler times of a simpler place was imagined. Here the children realize what we all must do: take care of each other.

Book Reviews

Pearl’s soft pastel illustrations, which have a grainy texture, suit the story’s pastoral setting, and pages incorporating black-and-white shadow play effectively represent the historic battles waged at Woodcroft Castle. The text is written in brief poetic stanzas.
... A warm, heartfelt paean to a leafy refuge for beautiful birds and happy children.
Kirkus Reviews
Pearl’s illustrations, executed in watercolors and colored pencils, bring the story to life with a dreamy, classic aesthetic. The soft hues and delicate lines capture the atmosphere of the English countryside. This timeless tale will surely become a beloved addition to many family libraries, offering wise young readers a perfect blend of entertainment and gentle life lessons.
The Children's Book Review
The Writer’s Hall of Fame should make room for Madeline Pearl, a new, rising star-quality young author. I highly recommend this book to all children.
